Oeam Folk Village – Formed about 500 years ago

This Oeam Folk Village has 500 years of fascinating history that you can still fully immerse yourself. It is located in Cheungcheongnam-do, Asan-si, Songak-myeon.

It is about an hour and half drive from Seoul. If you were to take the public transportation, it takes 35 minutes from Seoul KTX station to Cheonan-Asan KTX station. From the Cheonan-Asan station to the village, it takes about 18 minutes by taxi.

The tradition of this village has been very well-preserved.

The village itself is one of the National Folklore Cultural Heritage sites.

This village was formed about 500 years ago during the Joseon Dynasty. Since then, even in the present day, the villagers have been taking pride in their tradition.

In this village, you can see the good mix of tiled-roof houses and the thatched-roof houses. Tiled-roof houses would have been associated with high class and the thatched-roof houses with lower and middle class.

The way the houses are surrounded by the stone walls is also quite impressive.

You can find out more about the house by watching the video.
